We Won!

Today is an important date for ILPOA.  The Missouri Supreme Court denied Dale Brunts and Diana Wideman’s request to have the lawsuit against ILPOA transferred.  After over 3 years, over $43,000 in legal fees, and countless hours preparing and responding to requests from attorneys we are now in control of the future of our community. The nightmare is over!

There are so many people to thank for getting us to this point but we would be remiss in not recognizing the following:

  • Mark Miller (prior ILPOA President) who had a vision to start the process of using Assessments as a path forward to ensuring ILPOA’s future.
  • Mark McLean & Mary Beth Huffman (prior ILPOA Presidents) who heard from our members and said “no more” and poured hours upon hours into leading the charge in response to the lawsuit brought on by Williams, O’Fallon, Brunts, and Wideman.
  • Our members who stood by us, encouraged us, and supported our efforts that used ILPOA monies to fight this case – funds that could have been used for the betterment of our community.

Our path forward to improve our community has been confirmed by the Missouri Courts even after the exhausting appeals along the way all the way to the Missouri Supreme Court by the Plaintiffs.  Each step of the way the Courts ruled in favor of ILPOA.

This is truly our time to come together as we celebrate our new bridge that ensures the safety of our community and the Lake Restoration campaign to improve the health of our lake, and in the near future our solution to improve our roads for the future.

The legacy of our community seems clearer than ever before and we are so thankful for our members who have stood beside us up to this point and to those who will do so in the future.
