March 29, 2022Update from RC Dixon, ILPOA President
Roads: #1 Objective in 2022
Now that we have won the lawsuit, it is time to work in earnest as a board to move the community forward. Our priority must be to take actions to address the roads. As President, I want to make sure that the board is 100% aligned and that every board member is contributing to this effort between now and when we put a vote before the community. We’d also welcome volunteers to help us with this initiative.
We have a lot of work to do if we wish to pass a roads assessment. Highlights of that workload include but are not limited to:
* BOD Alignment: work to ensure that as a board we are all aligned on the project scope, that we all understand ILPOA history, and that we are aligned on our strategy to pass an assessment.
* Marketing Materials: we need inform all of the Members on the goals of this project. We’ll need to develop FAQs and hold informative sessions with our members to build support.
* Engineering Study: update our engineering study, ensuring that ditches and culverts work is included and that cost estimates reflect the current inflationary period we are in.
* Water Company Partnership: work with the water company and the road building partners that we select to work with to develop a year by year project plan and ensure that the water company is aligned to our project plans and will complete necessary repairs for each section before we pave.
*Assessment: develop language for the assessment and solicit feedback from the broader community prior to placing that language in front of our members in the form of a vote.
As a board, we were successful in passing the bridge assessment when we were very specific and transparent about the project, how cost estimates were derived, and being completely transparent on the use of funds. As a board, we must take this same approach with this project and intend to do so to earn and keep your trust.
Respectfully,
