President’s Update

The following update was provided by Robert Dixon, ILPOA President. If you have any questions please email Robert at bod.rdixon@ilpoa.org.

I want to thank all that attended our 2022 Annual Meeting in the Community Center on Saturday, October 9th at 1:00 pm as well as those who watched remotely or plan to watch a delayed broadcast. A special thanks to Sheriff Layman and Lt Brooks for their time and dedication to our community.

The agenda for the Annual Meeting was designed so that the ILPOA Board was able to communicate to our members in sufficient detail, key topics of interest.  Basis the comments and questions from those in attendance, it would appear that our agenda was on target. What was also apparent from the attendee’s commentary and questions is that we have at least two controversial topics to further consider; 1) water safety and compliance and 2) the placement of our yet to be established Crawford County Sub-Station.

The Board appreciates the input from our community on both of these topics.  We recognize that some input will be positive and some negative. We must hear all.  Both subject matters and their choices have their own unique set of pros and cons and both subject matters have numerous members for and against. If the topics were not so controversial and divisive, Board decisions would be easy. Decisions on both topics will be communicated in due time.

The Board ( and we hope our members ) appreciated hearing from the four gentlemen who wish to volunteer their time and talents as potential ILPOA Board Members. The current Board supports the messaging from each. To each of the four, thank you for taking time out of your Saturday afternoon to express your community thoughts and concerns.  From my vantage point, each of the four dialogues, as well as answers to questions appeared to be well received.

Ballots for open Board positions, by-laws, and rules & regulation changes will be mailed shortly. Please remember that due to Covid, mail service is not as fast as we may often think.  Therefore, I urge all to return your ballots a quickly as possible to assure all of us that your vote will be properly received and counted. There is no better way to express yourself than utilizing your power to vote.

Thank you
R C Dixon
President of ILPOA
