LAKE RESTORATION: OCTOBER 2024 UPDATE

Indian Hills Members, we are writing out to you today to provide an update on our Lake Restoration Project and our path forward looking ahead to 2025 and beyond.

Over the last five years, the Lake Restoration Committee has undertaken a herculean effort to improve the water quality of our lake. This has involved numerous conversations with vendors, hiring an independent consultant (Lake Restorative Sciences), volunteer efforts to build infrastructure to support the equipment, water testing, and the most important enabler – Fund Raising.

At this point in the project, the Lake Restoration board and the ILPOA board have been interested in benchmarking results relative to expectations to ensure that the community is realizing the benefits of our investment in equipment and treatments, and that we have the appropriate treatment plans for our lake given the current condition of the watershed relative to where we started. These conversations have been challenging, and we are working with Restorative Lake Sciences (Dr. JJ) to evaluate all of our options for treatments moving forward, including Sis Bio/Clean Flo if there is mutual interest.  In the years since we have started our project, there have continued to be advances in treatments for lakes that have algae issues like ours, and we are looking forward to sharing plans as they are developed and finalized over the next few months.

It is important to note that ILPOA owns all of the equipment in the lake for the Laminar Aeration System including the diffusers, compressors etc. In addition, maintenance has been trained to repair (including cut lines), maintain the system, and complete water testing responsibilities.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email LakeRestore@ilpoa.org.
