Lake Rules Enforcement Update

Over the last several years, the board has fielded a considerable number of complaints regarding violations of boating and PWC rules on Indian Hills Lake.  Violations include non-compliance to speed limits, the 100-foot rule either following too closely or getting too close to member’s docks,  dangerous maneuvers, and lack of proper boat stickers (lot number and current year ILPOA sticker). Observations of these violations on the water and violations of other rules and regulations are being reported both by Member observation and water patrol, and citations and fines are following those reports. We have seen a dramatic increase in citations being issued to start the 2022 lake season.

I am quite certain that some violators will be upset at this enforcement, however, the habitual rule-breakers are creating problems for the majority of our Members and the enforcement of our Rules is a priority for the board.

How does our citation system work at Indian Hills? The first offense receives a citation, however, no fine is attached to the first offense. The second offense receives a citation and a $50 fine. The third and any subsequent violations will receive a citation and $150 fine. Citations that are incurred by guests is the responsibility of the Member/Owner. Eventually, the cumulation of Three (3) citations will lead to a Member no longer being in good standing. At that point, all watercraft of that Member will be prohibited from using the lake for a period of 12 months. Please refer to Rules and Regulations Sections 12. Violation and Section 13. Enforcement for additional details.

For those Members who support these actions, we encourage you when you see a violation to identify the watercraft, provide a picture if possible, and describe the violation observed. You can send that information to indianlake@ILPOA.org. We thank you for your assistance in the enforcement of our rules.
