Lake Update April 2026
Dear Community Members,
The board is pleased to share an important update on our ongoing lake management efforts.
After careful evaluation, we have selected Aquatic Control, a nationally recognized lake management firm, to support the remediation and provide ongoing monitoring at Indian Lake. Their expertise and over 60 years of experience will be instrumental as we take the next steps toward improving the health and usability of our lake.

The initial phase of work will include sediment testing to better understand current lake conditions, followed by an initial Eutrosorb treatment. This treatment is designed to target and remove phosphorus from the water columnone of the key drivers of algae growth and our overall water quality challenges. Eutrosorb is manufactured in the United States and is well known and used throughout the world to combat algae issues caused by excessive phosphorous loads. Aquatic Control was at the lake on 4/29 conducting testing, and the Eurosorb treatment is scheduled for mid-May.
In addition, Aquatic Control will be conducting algal testing throughout the year to monitor conditions and help guide any necessary adjustments to our approach.
We will also continue our partnership with Dr. Rebecca North at the University of Missouri. Dr. North will continue her role advising on data interpretation, treatment effectiveness, and recommended next steps to ensure we are making informed, science-based decisions. Dr. North has supported our board throughout the evaluation and vendor selection process and is fully aligned with the treatment plans for 2026.
Finally, we are sharing that we will not be turning on the aeration system this summer, however later in the year, we will be evaluating the system design and efficacy. The door remains open for re-starting aerators in 2027 if Dr. North recommends doing so and we are confident that they will benefit the long term health of the lake.
We are encouraged by this progress and remain committed to ensuring the lake is safe and enjoyable for recreational use. We will continue to keep the community informed as work progresses.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
ILPOA Board
