Building Permits Update – July 2020

Information below was provided by John Richmond, Building Permits Chair. Any questions regarding Building Permits can be emailed to John at bod.jrichmond@ilpoa.org.

Building Permit applications continue to come in like a warm summer breeze through the window.  Businesses and individuals are opening up and getting out after the long Coronavirus “hibernation”.  Projects are underway, and other dreams are progressing from the back of an envelope to full-scale plans and drawings.  The permit process is not very difficult to complete as there are several pages to read and sign.

The forms you are signing are for the Building Permit Application itself; the Building Permit; the Building Permit Acknowledgement and Disclaimer (as it applies to our Building Code and Rules and Regulations); the Building Permit Information (i.e. list of projects needing a permit); a drawing or plan view (does not have to be professional drawings); and the current $400 Performance and Liability Bond, (aka Security Deposit).  Keep in mind there are a couple of other forms or permits needed IF your project is a water well, or new septic system.

When approved, you may commence your project, and upon its completion, please notify myself or the Indian Hills office and we can begin the process of returning your “deposit”.  As always, if you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me or in my absence, Jeremy Huguet, Building Permit Vice Chair, or our At-Large members, Tom McClard or Bruce Mueller.

Thank you!
